Repeal & Defund Obamacare Immediately
Obamacare is one of the worst laws ever passed in the history of our country. It is the single biggest job killer in America and it will add tremendously to our out of control national debt. According to the Director of the Congressional Budget Office it will result in 800,000 fewer jobs across the country, and by 2020 it will add $753 billion to our national debt. It’s a major threat to the quality of our healthcare and to our health. Doctors will leave the profession in droves, government bureaucrats will be making the decisions about how our health issues should be treated, it cuts Medicare for our Seniors, and it enables the government to intrude into every aspect of our health and our daily lives.
Promote Private Sector Economic Growth and Job Creation by Protecting Small Businesses from Excessive Taxation and Regulation
Government doesn’t create jobs, government destroys jobs. Job creation comes from the private sector and more specifically from small businesses and start-ups. Over the last decade well over 60% of the new jobs created in America were created by small businesses. Now, however our small businesses are under attack from over taxation and excessive regulation.
Taxes should be cut and tax credits should be offered to our small businesses to promote job creation. Job killing regulations, like those being enacted by the EPA, that unfairly target small businesses must be repealed. Congress must use its regulatory review authority to examine new regulations when issued and stop those that are frivolous, that waste our tax money, and destroy jobs.
Cut Government Spending, Balance the Budget, and Reduce Our Unsustainable National Debt
Our federal spending is out of control. Over the last three year’s our national debt has increased by over $4 Trillion which is more debt than the total debt that was created from the founding of our Country through the end of the Reagan Presidency. Obama and Kissell’s failed stimulus did nothing but stimulate our national debt and now Obamacare threatens to add hundreds of billions of more dollars in debt. By the end of 2011, the national debt will equate to over $45,000 for every man, woman, and child currently living in the United States. Most of this debt is owed to foreign nations like China.
This has to stop. We must adopt a Balanced Budget Amendment as well as a ban on all earmarks in Congressional budget bills and enforceable caps on federal spending. We must reexamine all spending at every level of the federal government. There is waste and inefficiency in every department of the federal government. We must begin to start looking for programs, agencies, and departments that can be eliminated instead of looking to create new ones.
Reform Our Tax System and Make it Harder to Raise Our Taxes
Our tax system must be reformed in a way that reduces taxes on all Americans while closing the loopholes that allow tax cheats to game the system. All options for tax reform should be on the table and should be examined carefully. Taxes such as the Capital Gains Tax which punishes investing and saving and the Death Tax which taxes us again when we die must be permanently eliminated.
Additionally, the rules must be changed to make it harder for Congress to raise our taxes. I will support and sponsor legislation that will require a super majority of two-thirds of the Members of Congress to support a tax increase. I will oppose any attempt by anyone to raise taxes on Americans and American families. I believe that the American family, not the federal government, knows best how to spend their hard earned money.
Reduce our dependence upon foreign oil
We must promote new sources of domestic drilling (onshore and offshore), and we must expand the use of all of our available energy sources including nuclear power and clean coal. This will strengthen our national security and our economy while lowering energy costs for all American families. Opening up offshore areas for greater development, alone, would add 2% a year to the GDP and bring $2.2 trillion in new revenue and royalties into our economy. The American Petroleum Institute estimates that lifting restrictions on US energy development could create more than 500,000 new jobs by 2025.
Protect our National Security, Secure Our Border, and Support Our Military
As a nation we have to remain vigilant to protect our country and our people from terrorists, Islamic extremists, rogue nations and other serious threats to our security and safety. This includes securing our porous border by whatever means necessary. We must not overreach, and we cannot police the globe, but we must step forward to protect our citizens and our national interests.
We also must fully support our men and women in uniform, their families, and our veterans. We must ensure that all of our commitments to our veterans are kept and that they receive the respect and care they deserve.
Crack Down on Illegal Immigration
We must enforce our existing immigration laws and we must never reward those who have entered our country illegally. I’ll never support amnesty in any form, and I oppose any effort to extend government benefits to illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants should never be eligible for guest-worker visas or given the opportunity to “purchase” lawful immigration status. Federal and State welfare benefits should be denied to those who entered our country illegally. We must crack down on businesses that knowingly employ illegals and all companies should be required by law to utilize the e-verify system to verify the identity and status of prospective employees.
Protect Life and Preserve Traditional Marriage
As a Doctor and a Christian I am staunchly Pro Life and in Congress I will fight to promote and protect it. I’ll also stand up for traditional marriage and push to ensure that marriage in America remains a sacred union between a man and a woman.
Defend the 2nd Amendment
As a Life Member of the NRA and a Concealed Carry Permit Holder you can count on me to defend the 2nd Amendment right to bear Arms. I will strongly oppose any restrictions on our 2nd Amendment rights, and I will fight any efforts by unelected government regulators to interfere with those rights.
Protect Social Security and Medicare
We must honor our commitments to our Seniors by protecting Medicare and Social Security. They built this country and we cannot go back on our word to them. I will not stand by and watch while the liberals in Washington or anyone else drives Social Security and Medicare into insolvency and defaults on our promises to the greatest generation. I will support reforms that will guarantee the solvency of Medicare and Social Security for our Seniors. I see the need for a modernized secured retirement system that will allow today’s American workers to build secure wealth and prosperity for their retirement. However, I will not support any reforms that will jeopardize our commitments to our Seniors.
