Whitley announces series of Town Halls across the new 8th Congressional District
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Dr. John Whitley, the Conservative Republican candidate for the new 8th Congressional District, announced today a series of town hall meetings between early November and the end of January in which Whitley will invite public discussion on issues that concern the citizens of the district’s 12 counties.
“I want to hear directly from the people of the 8th District about what is important to them and about what concerns them most about what is going on in our Country. I also want to share with them why I’m running, what I believe in, and what my vision is for our district, our state, and our nation,” Whitley said. “My desire is to go to Congress to fight for the people of the 8th District not for a job promotion or to top off a twenty year career in politics.”
Over the next three months, the Whitley campaign will be holding 8 town halls covering all 12 counties of the district. All concerned citizens of the 8th District are encouraged to attend and to share with Whitley their questions, views, concerns, and what issues are most important to them. Whitley will also be sharing with attendees about why he is running for Congress and he’ll be emphasizing his key issues with a focus on the need to repeal and defund ObamaCare. Whitley believes that ObamaCare is emblematic of the government knows best mentality that has wrecked our economy, sent both government spending and the national debt spiraling out of control, and led to unnecessary government interference into nearly every aspect of our day-to-day lives.
“ObamaCare has already proven to be a horrendous jobs killer,” Whitley said. “There will be no real economic recovery without its repeal. And there is no question it will decrease the quality of health care for all Americans while increasing its cost. It is most likely the single worst piece of legislation to ever be enacted in the history of our Country. It must be fully repealed and defunded now. Our country and our economy cannot afford for this horrendous bill to be fully enacted in 2014.”
Whitley, who was raised in Kannapolis, NC, is the only Republican candidate who is from the 8th district which includes all or part of the counties of Davidson, Rowan, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Stanly, Montgomery, Union, Randolph, Anson, Richmond, Scotland and Robeson. In addition to 20 years as a doctor and nearly 16 years as a neurosurgeon, Whitley also operates a small farm as a refuge for abused and neglected animals at his home in Fairmont, NC.
The first town hall will be occurring on Monday, November 14th at 7:00pm in Stanly County in the Community Room at the Public Library in Albemarle. More details will be forthcoming on future town halls.
